Common questions

Does contacting Congress actually work?

How do I contact my elected official or representative?

Use the lookup above to identify the officials who represent you, choose the bill or issue you want them to act on, and send the message Modern Action drafts through the right office channel.

Does my representative even read these messages?

Offices may log, categorize, and summarize constituent messages by issue and position. That does not mean every message receives an individual reply. Modern Action helps make the request easier to use by stating the issue, your position, and the action you want the office to consider.

Does contacting my representative actually change anything?

It can matter, but it does not guarantee a reply, changed vote, or policy result. Congressional offices record constituent views, and a clear, timely message can become one input when staff prepare for a decision. See the evidence and limits.

What makes a message effective?

A useful message identifies the issue or bill, states your position, gives a reason, and asks the office to take a specific action. Modern Action builds that draft from the positions and reasons you select instead of handing every user the same form letter.

What happens if nobody contacts their representative?

An office cannot include a constituent's view in its correspondence record if that view never reaches the office. Other constituents and organized groups may still communicate about the issue. Sending a message makes your position available, but it does not guarantee what the representative will do with it.

How do I find who represents me?

Enter your ZIP code above. Modern Action shows your U.S. senators and House representative, then lets you choose an issue or bill. The message is drafted from your stance and routed to the offices that represent you.

About

What Modern Action does

Most people begin with an issue, not a bill number. They know what affects their family, work, community, rights, or future, but finding the relevant legislation and the House or Senate offices involved requires work across several government systems.

Modern Action gives that concern a usable path. Start with an issue, understand the legislation connected to it when a clear federal path exists, choose where you stand, and receive a draft matched to the relevant House or Senate offices. If you already know the bill, you can start there instead.

Modern Action does not choose your position. You bring the values and reasons; the platform organizes the public context, finds the relevant office, and drafts the specific request. Official profiles also surface available phone numbers, websites, office addresses, social links, committee assignments, voting history, and current issues where Congress can still act.

The goal was never to stay informed. You're already informed. The goal is to make that matter.
