U.S. could not ease some Iran terrorism sanctions without a terrorism finding

Officially: No Sanctions Relief for Terrorists Act

The U.S. could not grant new special permission for deals with certain sanctioned Iranian people or groups unless the President says they have stopped terrorism ties. Existing broad Treasury permissions from January 20, 2021, would stay in place.

What this bill actually does

The bill applies to Iranian people and groups on the Treasury Department’s main sanctions list as of January 20, 2021. The list is called the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons list, and the names must have been listed under terrorism order Executive Order 13224.
The U.S. could not issue a new license or waiver for transactions with those people or groups unless the President makes a finding. The President must certify that they have stopped involvement in terrorism.
The President must send that certification to four congressional committees. They are House Foreign Affairs, House Financial Services, Senate Foreign Relations, and Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
